Most Exclusive Resort in Montego Bay
As we drive through the gate of the Round Hill Hotel in Montego Bay, we immediately understand this boutique hotel’s allure with the sophisticated set. It really does take you away from it all. Far away. The drive from the gate to the main building alone is enough time to forget the outside world.
As we wind down between the villas toward the front building, we can’t help but wonder who’s staying in each of them. Ralph Lauren owns one. He also designed and decorated the resort’s main lounge and the Pineapple Rooms. Paul McCartney has been here several times. And Ryan Gosling, too.
The good news is you don’t have to be rich to say here. (We aren’t!) It can be affordable. And anyway, doesn’t everyone deserve to live like the other half once in a while? Even if it’s just for a few days?
Picture a day that starts with yoga on the beach. Then maybe an outdoor Vichy shower treatment that feels like an invigorating waterfall. After a light lunch at the Seaside Terrace, it’s off for a game of golf at the nearby Tryall Golf Club, which has been called one of the most beautiful courses in the world. Or take Chukka up on their free pick up service and head out on an afternoon heritage and culture tour.
Get back in time for afternoon tea (between 4 and 5), then just chill by the infinity pool and try not to look like you’re scoping out the other guests to see who’s famous.
Before saying goodbye, we take a drive to the top of the grounds to check out the view from the organic gardens. Off to the side we found a quiet little spot called “Lizzie’s Lookout” and learned it was the resting spot of Liz Pringle, the Canadian-born model who created Round Hill with her husband in 1953. She once graced the covers of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and today, thanks to her, this gorgeous resort graces Montego Bay.
