Tucked away at Chukka Cove, Villa 1 is the perfect setting for your much-needed relaxation, with just the right dose of natural Jamaican adventure.

As you turn off the highway into Chukka Cove, you’re greeted by the expansive polo field, where some of the country’s best polo players have faced-off over the years. To the left are the horse stables, as well as a bar, gift shop, and a collection of ATVs. Two of Chukka’s most popular tours start right here.

It’s just a short walk from the horse stables to the Villas at Chukka Cove, but when you arrive in front of your home away from home it really is like stepping into your own private world. Take a deep breath of ocean air and exhale all the stress away as you marvel at the cliff-side view.

We were greeted with open arms by the friendly staff at the villa, who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They offer authentic Jamaican meals, prepared at your leisure. Whether you prefer eggs and fresh fruit for breakfast, or the traditional local meal of boiled banana, salt fish, and caliliou, you’ll never go hungry. The stewed ox tail is a must-have.

The two-bedroom two storey villa has a large patio facing the ocean on the main floor with folding doors that allow for open-air dining. Both bedrooms are located upstairs, each with an ensuite. While the décor is contemporary, it still manages to capture that relaxed Jamaican flare.

You’ll enjoy the enclosed living space off the upstairs master suite, which allows a cozy spot for evening reading, a futon for an extra guest, and a desk for catching up on things that can’t wait. The balcony off the suite is ideal for a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night while you listen to the sound of waves crashing against the cliffs.

Jumpstart your day with a dip in the private pool just steps from your front door and for the exclusive use of those staying in the villas. On calm days, you can use a ladder to swim off the end of the cliffs, and if you’re travelling with children, there’s a small sheltered ocean pool with a beach.  Of course you have access to all of Chukka’s amazing tours right there at the farm – and as a guest of Villa 1, you get a special discount.

One of our favourite parts of Villa 1 is its proximity to the bay at Chukka Cove. A short walk along the polo field takes you to the secluded spot, which is popular among adventure-goers for cliff jumping, but also offers a breath-taking view of the sunset during an evening swim.

After a few days stay at Villa 1, you’ll feel completely rejuvenated, although not quite ready to go home. It’s easy to imagine extending your stay, letting the hours pass you by as you sip a cocktail on the patio, and gaze out over the ocean, enjoying the cool breeze.
